In Idaho, This Mountain Retreat Offers Beaches and Private Frontage on a Pristine Lake
These generational properties are rarely for sale, and this one comes with four additional parcels
Price: $14.85 million
This cozy mountain-style home offers two beaches and 213 feet of private shoreline on the eastern arm of Payette Lake, a large body of water known for its excellent boating as well as its unspoiled beauty and surrounding campsites and hiking trails. The area is known for its “world-class sports, including skiing, fishing, snowmobiling and hiking and biking,” said listing agent Cheri Reeves, of Engel & Völkers McCall.
This nearly 3-acre wooded property with a two-story house that was built in 2002 is in a quiet cove with good sunsets over the lake, she said. “These properties around the lake are generational properties,” she said. “They hardly ever come on the market. People buy here and never leave.”
The amount of acreage and lake frontage it has is rare, and “it’s rare to have a large private dock like this,” Ms. Reeves said. There are four other buildable lots included in the price, according to the listing. Parcels 5 and 6 are 1.7 acres; Parcel 7 is 0.58 acres; and Parcel 8 is 0.58 acres.
The wood and other materials in the home were all hand selected and hand crafted by the original owner, who built this as his forever home, Ms. Reeves said. These include hand-hewn Montana beams and logs, reclaimed wood floors, elk chandeliers, a hand-carved front door and interior columns, stone fireplaces and hunting trophies. “The home has a mountain retreat feel to it,” Ms. Reeves said. “It has such a peaceful energy looking out on the lake.”
From the front door and foyer, “you step right into the great room with a straight shot of the lake as soon as you enter the home,” she said. Along with the open lake views, the open-plan great room features a bar, a large stone fireplace and vaulted ceilings. There are two en-suite bedrooms on the ground floor, including the primary suite, which has a large walk-in closet and a door to a back patio. The other bedroom also has a patio along with a separate entry. The primary suite has “beautiful views of the lake,” Ms. Reeves said. “You really have views from every window in the house.” There are two more bedrooms upstairs, one of which is set up as a bunk room for the owner’s grandchildren.
